Azerbaijan on Tuesday reported cross-border fire targeting its military positions from Armenia for the third day in a row.
In an initial statement, Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry said its forces came under fire overnight from Armenian troops stationed near the settlements of Arpa, Saybali, and Vagan, located in the Keshishkend, Garakilseh, and Chenbarak regions, respectively.
The ministry stated that the incident occurred between 10:15 p.m. on Monday and 12:20 a.m. local time on Tuesday (18:15GMT–20:20GMT).
In a later update, it reported that Armenian forces near the Istisu settlement in the Basarkechar district also opened fire on Azerbaijani positions at approximately 8:55 a.m. (0455GMT) on Tuesday.
The reported cross-border fire marks the third consecutive day of claims by Azerbaijan, coming less than a week after both nations separately announced an agreement on a draft peace deal aimed at resolving their long-standing conflict and establishing diplomatic relations between Baku and Yerevan.
