Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has approved the country’s membership in the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, formalizing its entry into the bloc.
The decision follows unanimous support from D-8 leaders at the Cairo Summit on December 19, 2024.
The D-8, which includes Türkiye, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh, was established to enhance economic collaboration among developing nations.
Azerbaijan’s accession aims to strengthen trade partnerships, expand its global economic influence, and contribute to the bloc’s mission of boosting trade, improving international representation, and raising living standards across member states.
