Azerbaijan exported 18.4 billion cubic metres of natural gas in the first nine months of 2026, with Europe taking the largest share, according to operational data shared by Baku’s Energy Ministry on Thursday.
Europe received 8.6 billion cubic metres of gas, followed by Türkiye which took seven billion cubic metres, including 4.2 billion via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). Georgia received 1.6 billion cubic metres of gas and Syria 1.2 billion cubic metres.
Azerbaijan produced 37.9 billion cubic metres of gas over the period, meaning roughly half of output was sent abroad.
The Shah Deniz field accounted for the biggest share of production, at 20.6 billion cubic metres. The Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) field produced 10.8 billion cubic metres, state energy company SOCAR 5.3 billion, and the Absheron field 1.2 billion.
Azerbaijan also produced 19.9 million tonnes of oil, including condensate, between January and September. ACG contributed 11.8 million tonnes, Shah Deniz 2.6 million and Absheron 0.4 million. SOCAR’s own output was 5.1 million tonnes.

Crude oil production averaged 61,000 tonnes (446,000 barrels) a day, while condensate averaged 12,000 tonnes (101,000 barrels). Together, that amounts to 73,000 tonnes, or 547,000 barrels, a day.
A total of 15.5 million tonnes of oil and condensate was exported. ACG shipped 14.2 million tonnes, SOCAR 0.8 million and Absheron 0.5 million. Refineries processed a further 4.5 million tonnes.
Since the ACG and Shah Deniz fields began operating, they have produced about 684.5 million tonnes of oil and condensate and 540 billion cubic metres of gas as of 1 October.
ACG has yielded 629.5 million tonnes of oil and 254.7bn cubic metres of gas. Shah Deniz has produced around 55 million tonnes of condensate and 285.3 billion cubic metres of gas.
Over the same period, 682.5 million tonnes of oil and 206.4 billion cubic metres of gas have been exported.
