Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev met a leading representative of German business Monday evening during an official Berlin visit. Talks with Michael Harms, Chairman of the Eastern Committee of the Germany Economy, focused on trade, energy cooperation and transport links between Europe and Asia.
The two men discussed growing interest among Azerbaijani and German companies in expanding joint business activities and ways to formalise that cooperation.
They also covered opportunities in both traditional and renewable energy, as well as transport, logistics and the Middle Corridor, a trade route linking China and Europe through Central Asia and the South Caucasus, bypassing Russia.
The meeting also touched on agriculture, with the two sides discussing the potential use of German technology in Azerbaijan’s industry.
Aliyev arrived in Berlin on Monday and was welcomed by German officials at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, where a guard of honour was assembled.
