Trade between Azerbaijan and the U.S. reached $296.2 million in the first quarter of 2026, more than doubling compared with the same period last year, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.

Trade with the U.S. accounted for 3.14% of the country’s total turnover during the first three months of the year. The increase comes as officials from both countries met in Baku to discuss implementation of the Azerbaijan-U.S. Charter on Strategic Partnership.

The agreement, signed in Baku in February, aims to strengthen economic, security and trade ties between the two countries.

Cooperation on infrastructure projects linked to the Middle Corridor trade route, which connects China to Europe, is a central pillar of the deal.

This includes development of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a road and rail corridor connecting mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave.

Officials from Washington and Baku also exchanged views on projects related to transport, digitalisation and artificial intelligence during a meeting on Wednesday (15 April), Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

“During the meeting, the important role of Azerbaijan in the region's energy security, the diversification of trade routes in the Middle Corridor, as well as the existing favorable business and investment environment in Azerbaijan and the opportunities for establishing new relations were discussed,” the Ministry said.
