Presidential Elections Begin in the Georgian Parliament, voting to conclude by 14:00.
The Georgian parliamentary elections are underway under heightened security measures, classified as a "yellow level." Access to the parliament building is restricted to members of the electoral college, authorized representatives, and accredited journalists.
The elections are being conducted against the backdrop of public protests. Demonstrators have blocked the city's main avenue and are also gathered on the streets adjacent to the parliament building. The parliament itself is surrounded by police to maintain order.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) is overseeing the voting process. Ballot boxes have been set up in the parliamentary session hall, where the elections are taking place. Results will be announced during a CEC session.
According to the Georgian Constitution, the president is elected by an electoral college of 300 members through open voting, without debates. To secure a victory in the first round, a candidate must receive at least two-thirds of the votes.
