Two people were injured in a shooting near a mosque in the Swedish city of Örebro on Friday, police said.

Local reports said at least one person was taken to hospital after being shot while leaving Friday prayers at the mosque, located west of Stockholm.

Police said the severity of the injuries remains unknown and confirmed that a preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been launched.

The suspect has not been caught, and authorities have not determined whether the mosque or specific individuals were the intended target. Emergency services are at the scene in large numbers, and the public has been urged to avoid the area.
