Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a call from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday, marking an important diplomatic exchange ahead of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
The two leaders exchanged greetings and expressed their mutual wishes for peace and prosperity for their nations and the broader region.
During the conversation, the leaders reviewed several key developments and issues of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations. This call comes as part of a broader diplomatic initiative by Iran to enhance ties with Islamic countries and neighboring nations.
Earlier this week, President Pezeshkian engaged in similar discussions with leaders from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Bahrain, as reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA. In these calls, he extended an invitation to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for a visit to Iran to further discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation. Additionally, during his conversation with Jordan’s King Abdullah, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s commitment to strengthening ties with Jordan and condemned Israel’s alleged violations of ceasefire agreements in Gaza.
The call between the Saudi crown prince and the Iranian president underscores a renewed emphasis on diplomatic dialogue in the region as both nations navigate complex geopolitical challenges while seeking regional stability and improved cooperation.
