U.S. President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace is set to unveil a six-month, $2.45 billion recovery plan for Gaza on Wednesday, covering housing, infrastructure, healthcare and security, Axios reported.
The 66-project proposal sets out planned spending on temporary housing, rubble removal, hospital repairs, economic recovery and the deployment of a multinational security force, according to a copy of the plan cited by Axios.
The plan estimates the physical damage to Gaza at $35.2 billion and says full recovery and reconstruction would require about $71.4 billion over the next decade.
The proposal calls for repairing border crossings, restoring electricity and water infrastructure, deploying 25,000 portable solar-power kits and permanently filling tunnels beneath sites earmarked for priority reconstruction.
The Trump administration told Congress in late July that it planned to provide more than $206 million for a proposed Gaza peacekeeping force, marking the first significant U.S. funding for the broader plan to rebuild Gaza.
Trump established the Board of Peace to oversee his plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza and advancing reconstruction.
However, progress has stalled since an agreement was announced in late July, as key conditions required for implementation remain unfulfilled by Israel and Hamas.
The Board of Peace and the Palestinian technocratic government have yet to secure the full $2.45 billion, according to Axios. However, officials are confident donor countries will provide funding once political obstacles are cleared.
