Four South Korean-operated vessels exit Strait of Hormuz, ministry says

South Korea’s maritime ministry said four vessels operated by South Korean shippers have exited the Strait of Hormuz and are now sailing to their destinations, including one bound for South Korea.

The ministry said 18 of the 26 vessels stranded since the start of the Middle East conflict remain in the Gulf.

Earlier, HMM confirmed that two of its vessels, including a very large crude carrier heading to South Korea, had successfully passed through the strait.

Oman opens temporary corridor in Strait of Hormuz

Oman said it has coordinated with the International Maritime Organization to establish a temporary maritime corridor for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to state news agency reports.

Vessels wishing to use the corridor will need to coordinate with the IMO based on agreed coordinates set by the organisation and Omani authorities.

The measure is aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation in line with international law and the law of the sea, which uphold transit rights without imposing fees.

Iran reopens western part of country’s airspace

Iran’s civil aviation authority said Tuesday it reopened the western part of the country’s airspace.

"The western airspace of the country, like the eastern airspace, has been activated operationally and 24 hours a day," Iran's state-run broadcaster IRIB said, citing the authority.

It said the necessary conditions have been put in place to allow domestic and transit flights over Iranian airspace.

"All airports in the country are allowed to operate in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP),” it added

Oman and Iran to discuss navigation management in Strait of Hormuz
