Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to hold bilateral talks, attend signing ceremony, joint press conference.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday welcomed Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with an official ceremony at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, marking the start of high-level talks between the two countries.
Tinubu’s motorcade was escorted by 103 cavalry units along the avenue leading to the complex, symbolising the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic.
Erdoğan personally greeted Tinubu at the main entrance, where the two leaders stood for the national anthems of Türkiye and Nigeria, performed by a military band. They later posed for photographs in front of the two countries’ national flags.
Following the ceremony, Erdoğan and Tinubu proceeded to bilateral and inter-delegational talks, focusing on cooperation between Ankara and Abuja.
The two leaders are also expected to attend a signing ceremony for bilateral agreements and hold a joint press conference later in the day.
Senior Turkish officials, including cabinet ministers, presidential advisers and the governor of Ankara, attended the welcoming ceremony.
