The 6-day The International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF), considered one of the world’s largest defence events, opened on Tuesday in Istanbul, Türkiye, with top ministers and commanders from foreign countries in attendance.
The annual 17th edition spans multiple venues, including the Istanbul Fair Center, just near the Ataturk Airport. It is organized by KFA Fairs with support from Türkiye’s Defence Industries Secretariat and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.
Officials from 33 countries are expected to attend, with 44 countries showcasing stalls and more than 400 global brands participating.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered an official speech, saying, "Türkiye's production rate in the defence industry has now elevated to 80%."
Exhibits feature land, air, and naval systems, including tanks, missiles, UAVs, satellites, combat ships, and communication systems.
The event also highlights innovations in security and logistics technologies which visitors can explore.
