Uzbekistan’s Uzatom Agency and Russia’s Rosatom signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop radiation processing technologies for medical and agricultural sectors.

The agreement aims to foster long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in establishing multifunctional ionizing processing centers across Uzbekistan.

“We see significant market potential for ionizing processing in Uzbekistan and are ready, together with our partner Uzatom, to promote wider use of radiation technologies to strengthen food security, public health, and enhance Uzbekistan’s export capabilities,” said General Director of the Rosatom-managed company Artur Kolontaev.

“The signed MoU with Rosatom reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to introducing innovative technologies across key sectors of our economy. The development of multifunctional ionizing processing centers will be a major step in modernizing the country’s medical and agricultural industries - ensuring high levels of sterilization, extended product shelf life, and stronger food security,” added Uzatom Director Azim Akhmedkhadjaev. “Uzbekistan is moving actively toward new horizons, and this cooperation will not only improve the quality of domestic products but also significantly expand export potential, opening new opportunities for the country’s sustainable development.”
