Kazakhstan has announced key initiatives to enhance transit and transport infrastructure across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), with a focus on the Middle Corridor, or Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Trend reports.

During the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan highlighted several major infrastructure projects. These include a comprehensive roadmap to develop the eastern route “North-South,” aiming to double its capacity by 2027; expansion of the Trans-Kazakhstan railway corridor as part of TITR; and construction of the “Center-West” highway connecting Astana with western regions and international routes.

“These projects are important elements in implementing the President of Kazakhstan’s initiative to develop the Concept of Integration of CIS transport arteries,” the Prime Minister’s press service stated.

The meeting also addressed prospects for cooperation in light industry, with support for joint production projects and clusters, as well as collaboration in digital technologies. Kazakhstan emphasized the role of the Alem AI international center in advancing artificial intelligence across fields such as healthcare, education, public administration, and industry.

Further attention was given to intensifying cooperation among state bodies in cybersecurity and combating transnational fraud.

The next CIS Council of Heads of Government meeting is scheduled for September 2025 in Minsk, Belarus.
