Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will visit Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in late May as part of a diplomatic tour, culminating in her participation in the first-ever Central Asia–Italy summit in Astana.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is set to embark on a key diplomatic visit to Central Asia this month. According to the Italian government, she will travel to Uzbekistan on May 28–29, where she will hold high-level meetings and bilateral talks in Samarkand.
Following her visit to Uzbekistan, Meloni will head to Kazakhstan on May 30, where she will participate in the first-ever “Central Asia - Italy” summit in Astana.
Originally, the visit to Uzbekistan was scheduled for April 25-26, followed by attendance at the summit in Kazakhstan. However, both visits were postponed due to the death of Pope Francis on April 21, which led to a change in the Prime Minister’s international schedule.
The upcoming trip marks a significant step in strengthening Italy's strategic engagement with Central Asia, with a focus on political, economic, and regional cooperation.
