Moscow and Tashkent adopted a military strategic partnership program amid Russia’s isolation from the West.
The plan outlines 50 unspecified “joint military activities” scheduled for 2025, followed by broader strategic initiatives between 2026 and 2030, according to the ministry’s statement on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed between Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov and his Uzbek counterpart Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov in Tashkent.
The Russian Defence Ministry noted that “ensuring security in the Central Asian region and exploring prospects for the development of military and military-technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia" were on the agenda of Belousov’s official visit.
After the signing the partnership program, Belousov was received by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss “strengthening comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance as well as enhancing collaboration between the defence agencies of the two countries.”
