Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nuruddin Azizi, met with Turkish envoy, Ambassador Cenk Ünal in Kabul on Sunday 5th October to discuss matters of mutual economic importance.
At the meeting, both sides discussed expanding bilateral trade, facilitating transit, and attracting foreign investment in Afghanistan.
The Ambassador of Türkiye extended an official invitation to the Minister of Industry and Commerce to participate in the Fifth Meeting of the Ministers of Trade of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), scheduled to be held from 24th to 26th November 2025 in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Additionally, Cenk invited Minister Azizi to the upcoming Halal Expo 2025, which will take place from 27th to 30th November 2025 also in Istanbul.

These developments follow Afghanistan’s recent participation in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), held in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, earlier this year.
The summit was attended by Afghanistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who expressed interest in establishing strategic relationships with other ECO member states and deepening economic cooperation.
During bilateral meetings with Azerbaijan, Kabul and Baku discussed cooperation in areas such as trade, transit, and diplomacy.
These developments come as Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi held a telephone conversation with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Muradov.
The two sides discussed bilateral issues and emphasised the progress of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, along with a review of political and economic relations between the two countries.
Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral ties, characterising it as “positive.”
They reiterated their commitment to enhancing practical cooperation across various sectors, indicating a shared vision for future collaboration.
As Afghanistan’s participation in regional forums grows and talks on key infrastructure projects continue with regional and neighbouring countries, Afghanistan seems eager to expand cooperation with its neighbours and strengthen its role in the regional economic landscape.
