Türkiye’s Zero Waste Foundation has released the Zero Waste Encyclopaedia in Turkish and English, ahead of hosting COP31 in 2026, providing a comprehensive resource on global zero waste practices.

The encyclopaedia presents data on when countries began implementing zero waste policies, progress achieved, economic benefits, greenhouse gas reductions, trees saved, and buildings transitioned to zero waste systems. It also includes target years and projected recycling rates, offering a comparative, data-driven approach to environmental action.

The platform is expected to serve as a key reference during COP31, the 31st session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will take place from 9 to 20 November 2026, with the leaders’ summit in İstanbul and the main conference in Antalya.

The İstanbul-based Zero Waste Foundation, established in 2023 with First Lady Emine Erdoğan as honorary president, supports Türkiye’s national Zero Waste initiative, aiming to reduce carbon emissions, optimise resource use, and provide measurable environmental performance for stakeholders.
