On June 5, South Korea will mark World Environment Day 2025 by highlighting the urgent global need to end plastic pollution, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) announced. Celebrated annually since 1972, the event serves as the UN’s main platform for raising awareness and prompting action on environmental issues. This will be the second time South Korea hosts the occasion, showcasing its leadership in tackling plastic waste through a life-cycle approach that includes government policy, business innovation, and public engagement.
