Global pop-star Taylor Swift has announced the release of a new original song for Disney and Pixar’s animated film "Toy Story 5", following days of online speculation among fans.
The track, titled "I Knew It, I Knew You", will be released on 5 June, with CD singles available for preorder through Swift’s official website. Three versions will be issued, including piano, acoustic and original arrangements.
Rumours of Swift’s involvement began circulating last week after fans noticed promotional billboards featuring the initials “TS” in the distinctive yellow Toy Story font across cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Mexico City and London.
“It’s a Toy Story,” Swift wrote on Instagram after a themed countdown on her website concluded on 1 June.
Swift said she had long wanted to write for the franchise, adding that she “fell instantly in love” with the film after an early screening and wrote the song immediately afterwards.
The track was co-written with longtime collaborator singer, songwriter and music producer Jack Antonoff.
Director Andrew Stanton said Swift’s contribution felt “kismet”, noting that her connection to the character Jessie shaped the emotional direction of the song.
The release marks Swift’s first new music since her album The Life of a Showgirl in October 2025. Toy Story 5 is scheduled for worldwide release on 19 June.
