The Los Angeles Mission served the homeless in Downtown Los Angeles turkey and all the festive meals a day before Thanksgiving. And they did it with the help of a few well-known faces.
The Los Angeles Mission, located in Los Angeles 'Skid Row', provides food, clothing, and care for homeless people. A team of volunteers served 4,000 meals, offering support and compassion to the community for Thanksgiving.
Erik Grant, the Mission’s executive chef, who was once homeless, shared the memorable task of preparing the feast: "So the expectancy is between 1,500 and 4,000 and so I've prepared 180 gallons of gravy, 3,600 pounds of turkey, 1,000 pounds of macaroni, 1,000 pounds of Collard greens, and 1,000 pounds of stuffing."
Well-known celebrities such as Hollywood producer Jeffrey Katzenberg, actors Joe Manganiello, Alexander James Rodriguez and Cedric Yarbrough, TV host Nick Cannon and politician Maxine Waters were there either serving the homeless or helping the servers to distribute the meals.
As the holiday season comes soon, the Los Angeles Mission’s efforts show that the amount of kindness can make a difference in the world and bring joy to many people in need.
