Hermès menswear designer Véronique Nichanian presented her final collection on Saturday at Paris Fashion Week, ending nearly four decades in the role as she prepares to hand it over to British designer Grace Wales Bonner.
The show took place at the Palais Brongniart, drawing a more celebrity-heavy crowd than usual for the discreet luxury house. R&B star Usher was seen mingling with Hermès executive chairman Axel Dumas ahead of the runway show.
Models appeared in a restrained palette of navy, black and taupe, wearing silk turtlenecks paired with leather trousers.
Overcoats featured leather patch detailing and shearling linings, while jackets in orange and yellow added brief flashes of colour.
One of the standout looks was a shiny khaki crocodile skin suit. Nichanian also revisited earlier designs, including a navy leather pinstriped suit from 2003 and a mocha calfskin jumpsuit from 1991, blending the house’s past and present.
Nichanian received a standing ovation as she closed the show, watched by guests including Paul Smith, Travis Scott, James McAvoy and Chace Crawford.
Hermès announced Grace Wales Bonner as Nichanian’s successor in October.
Wales Bonner will become the first Black woman to lead a major luxury fashion house and is set to present her debut menswear collection for Hermès in January 2027.
