China’s annual consumer inflation reached 0.1% in June, slightly above market expectations of a 0.1% decline, according to data released Wednesday by the National Bureau of Statistics.
This marks an increase from May’s figure of -0.1%, as the country focuses on boosting domestic demand and benefits from a rebound in industrial consumer goods prices, Xinhua reported.
The core consumer price index, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.7% year-on-year in June, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to May.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices slipped by 0.1%.
Meanwhile, producer prices fell 3.6% year-on-year in June.
