Cupertino, CA, February 17, 2025 – Apple today released the first developer beta for iOS 18.4, unveiling a new “Priority Notifications” feature powered by Apple Intelligence.
Priority Notifications appear in a separate section on the Lock Screen, ensuring that key updates are visible even if they were received earlier than other alerts. Under the current system, notifications are sorted chronologically, with the most recent appearing at the top. With this update, Apple Intelligence will analyze incoming notifications and determine which ones should be displayed prominently. Users can still swipe up on the Lock Screen to access all notifications.
According to sources including 9to5Mac, the new feature is off by default. Users who wish to enable Priority Notifications can do so by navigating to the Settings app, selecting “Notifications,” and then toggling on the “Prioritize Notifications” option.
In related news, Apple announced that Apple Intelligence is also making its way to the Vision Pro headset as part of visionOS 2.4. A developer beta of the updated software is currently available, with a public release expected in April. Additionally, the tech giant revealed Apple News+ Food, a new section aimed at allowing users to search and save recipes from a wide range of existing News+ publishing partners.
These updates underscore Apple’s ongoing efforts to integrate advanced AI features across its ecosystem, enhancing user experience on both mobile devices and emerging platforms.
