Iran: “The U.S. decided to destroy diplomacy”

Iran accused the U.S. of "destroying diplomacy" following airstrikes on its nuclear facilities and vowed a proportionate military response, with details to be decided by its military.

Speaking at an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting on Sunday, Iran's U.N. ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, condemned the U.S. intervention as an escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. “The U.S. decided to destroy diplomacy,” Iravani said, warning that Iran would take “all measures necessary” to respond.

The strikes, targeting three key Iranian nuclear sites, marked a significant expansion of U.S. involvement in the region. Iran stated its military would determine the "timing, nature, and scale" of its retaliation.

The U.N. Security Council meeting was convened amid growing global calls for de-escalation and a return to diplomacy to prevent further destabilization in the Middle East.
