The Lebanese government has firmly warned Hezbollah against participating in Iran’s retaliation against Israel, signaling a sharp rebuke of any unilateral military action by the group.
The Lebanese government has informed Hezbollah that any involvement in Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Israel following the recent attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities is unacceptable, according to Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya.
Citing informed sources, the channel reported that Lebanese officials told the Iran-backed group that “the time when the organisation could unilaterally decide to enter a war without the state's consent is over.”
The government also made it clear that Hezbollah would bear full responsibility for the consequences if Lebanon is drawn into a broader military conflict. The warning comes amid heightened regional tensions and fears that the Israel-Iran confrontation could spill over into neighboring countries.
