An Air India flight from Phuket to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday after receiving a bomb threat mid-flight, Thai airport authorities confirmed.
Flight AI 379, carrying 156 passengers, took off from Phuket International Airport at 9:30 a.m. local time, but shortly after departure, the plane made a wide turn over the Andaman Sea before returning to Phuket, according to data from flight tracker Flightradar24.
All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft in accordance with emergency protocols, the Airports of Thailand (AOT) said in a statement. Details regarding the nature of the threat have not yet been disclosed.
Air India has not issued an official comment on the incident.
