U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan to Washington on Tuesday for talks focused on strengthening the U.S.-UAE partnership.
The two officials discussed regional security, economic cooperation, and humanitarian efforts. "We discussed economic opportunities, regional security, and humanitarian efforts to mark the growing partnership between the United States and the UAE," Rubio said on X.
State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said the talks also included a review of President Donald Trump’s recent visit to the Gulf state, which she described as “historic.” Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting security and prosperity in the region.
The ministers exchanged views on other regional issues, including the conflicts in Syria and Sudan.
