Türkiye has confirmed its readiness to host another round of peace talks on Ukraine, with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan meeting Russian officials during a visit to Moscow.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, currently visiting Moscow at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, confirmed that Türkiye is prepared to facilitate the next round of peace negotiations to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine. During his two-day visit, Fidan met with key Russian figures including Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation from the recent Istanbul talks, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The talks also covered Syria, with Ankara seeking continued Russian support for the country's political and territorial integrity. Bilateral relations between Türkiye and Russia, a major energy partner and popular destination for Russian tourists, were also discussed. Despite a 6.9% decline in trade this year, mainly due to sanctions affecting projects such as the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, Ankara remains hopeful that improving Russia-U.S. relations will positively impact Turkish-Russian ties.
