Ten people were shot Sunday night after a private boat party docked on the South Carolina coast, local authorities confirmed.
The shooting broke out around 9:30 p.m. near a dock in Little River, where a fight escalated after the vessel arrived.
Horry County police said no one was killed, but several of the victims remain in critical condition. Another person was hospitalized with injuries unrelated to gunfire.
The incident took place at a dock commonly used by private charter boats. According to police, the vessel had been hosting a holiday weekend party and had just completed a cruise before the violence began.
Detectives are still working to determine where exactly the altercation and gunfire started. A flyer circulating online advertised a Sunday night event with a DJ aboard a three-hour cruise ending at 9 p.m.
A woman who answered a phone number listed on the flyer told a reporter early Monday that she was "distraught" after seeing friends shot. She declined to comment further and ended the call.
Authorities have not yet released information about potential suspects or arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
