The Trump administration has introduced new restrictions at the Pentagon, requiring journalists to have official escorts in most areas, citing national security concerns and tighter control over sensitive information.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced new rules limiting reporters’ access within the Pentagon. Effective immediately, credentialed journalists must be accompanied by official escorts to enter most parts of the Department of Defense headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
Several major news organizations have been replaced in Pentagon office spaces by outlets perceived as more aligned with the Trump administration.
Hegseth’s order requires the Pentagon press corps to acknowledge their responsibility to protect sensitive information and mandates new press credentials with enhanced security features. Further security measures are expected soon.
