NATO Secretary-General calls for collaborative Ukraine peace efforts

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has emphasized the importance of U.S. involvement in the Ukraine peace efforts while urging consultation with European nations and Ukraine for a balanced approach.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has described the U.S. administration's role in Ukraine peace initiatives as "very positive." However, he underscored the necessity for Europeans and Ukraine to remain integral to the decision-making process. Speaking ahead of a Brussels meeting with European ministers, Rutte highlighted the importance of close coordination among all parties involved.

Following a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans for negotiations on a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine to commence immediately. 

European leaders and Ukraine continue to call for an immediate ceasefire, while Trump has urged Putin to agree to a 30-day truce.
