The sixth European Political Community summit opens this Friday in Tirana, Albania, bringing together 47 heads of state and EU institutions—alongside Türkiye, the UK, Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine—to forge unified strategies on European security, defense and continued support for Ukraine.
Albania hosted the sixth European Political Community (EPC) summit on Friday in its capital, Tirana, marking the first time the Western Balkans held the high-level gathering. The summit brought together 47 heads of state and government, along with representatives from EU institutions.
Held under the theme “New Europe in a New World: Unity – Cooperation – Joint Action,” the meeting included leaders from EU member states as well as Türkiye, the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine. Central discussions focused on European security and defence, with strong emphasis on ongoing support for Ukraine.
The agenda also addressed the protection of democratic institutions, the response to emerging threats, efforts to boost the EU’s competitiveness, and solutions to mobility issues including migration and labour movement.
The summit concluded with a joint press conference led by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who will host the next EPC summit.
