Ukrainian and Russian negotiators agreed in Istanbul to resume talks aimed at a ceasefire and to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war.
A trilateral meeting between delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and Türkiye ended in Istanbul on Friday. The one-hour session, led by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, focused on a peaceful resolution to the Russia–Ukraine war.

Ukraine was represented by Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, and Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
The Turkish delegation also included Ibrahim Kalin, Head of the National Intelligence Organization.
The meeting lasted one hour and focused on diplomatic efforts to end the Russia–Ukraine war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had signed a decree on Thursday appointing Ukraine’s official delegation.
A separate meeting between Türkiye, Russia, and Ukraine was scheduled to begin later in the day. No statement has been made yet.
