The Chinese foreign ministry said on Tuesday it would welcome visits by European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at an appropriate time to jointly hold the next round of China-EU leaders' meetings.
The announcement comes as May 6 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. The milestone coincides with efforts by both sides to improve strained ties amid ongoing global trade uncertainty.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said during a regular press conference that high-level dialogues on strategy, economy and trade, green development, and digitalisation will be held throughout the year, along with various other events.
