South African maize output for the 2024/25 season is now pegged at 14.66 million metric tons—14 % higher than last season’s 12.85 million tons—according to the government’s Crop Estimates Committee (CEC). The latest projection, released in the CEC’s third summer-crop forecast, slightly tops March’s 14.56 million-ton estimate. The harvest is expected to yield roughly 7.76 million tons of white maize for human consumption and 6.9 million tons of yellow maize destined mainly for animal feed.
