British police have charged Abdullah Sabah Albadri, 33, with preparing a terrorist act and possessing knives after he allegedly tried to breach the Israeli embassy’s grounds in west London.

British police have charged a 33-year-old man after an alleged attempt to enter the grounds of Israel’s embassy in west London with a knife.

Officers arrested the suspect, Abdullah Sabah Albadri, on Monday evening when he was reportedly trying to gain unauthorised access to the diplomatic compound. He was initially held on suspicion of a public-order offence, trespassing on a protected site and carrying an offensive weapon.

Detectives have now charged Albadri with preparing a terrorist act and with two counts of possessing a bladed article. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later on Wednesday.

Commander Dominic Murphy of London’s Counter Terrorism Command said investigators are not looking for further suspects and believe there is no broader threat to the public. The Israeli embassy thanked British security services for their swift response, stating that no staff or visitors were harmed. The Community Security Trust, which advises the UK’s Jewish community on safety, said it is liaising with police and is unaware of any related threats.
