G7 Seek Unified Stance to Netanyahu ICC Warrant

The Group of Seven (G7) nations are working towards a unified stance on the International Criminal Court's (ICC) recent arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others, according to Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

During a two-day meeting in Fiuggi, Tajani emphasised the need for cohesion and hinted at including the issue in the final communiqué.

The ICC warrants relate to actions during the Gaza conflict. Israel has rejected the charges, while the United States, a G7 member, has criticised the ICC’s decision, with President Biden describing it as "outrageous."

Discussions also included efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock noting improved prospects for a breakthrough, facilitated by engagement with Gulf and Arab partners.
