At least 16 people were injured in two separate incidents over the weekend in Thailand’s Narathiwat province, according to local media.
The first attack occurred in Muang district, where a motorcycle with a sidecar exploded outside a police officers' housing area near the Khok Khian police station, injuring nine people and causing damage to nearby buildings, vehicles, and fences, the Bangkok Post reported.
In a second incident in Waeng district, unknown gunmen attacked a group of Thai Buddhists having dinner outside a house, throwing a grenade and opening fire. Seven people were wounded and taken to a nearby hospital.
The condition of the victims has not yet been reported. Security forces have increased their presence in the region as investigations continue.
