Mexican forces have dismantled a massive meth lab in Zacatecas, dealing a blow to a Sinaloa Cartel faction.
The Mexican Navy, in coordination with other security forces, has uncovered a clandestine laboratory used for methamphetamine production during an operation in Zacatecas, central Mexico.
According to a Navy statement, a cluster of labs equipped with tools used by criminal groups to manufacture synthetic drugs was found at the site.
Authorities seized 63,100 liters of various substances, including benzyl chloride, and 125 kilograms of caustic soda. The complex covered an area of 395,000 square meters.
Precursor chemicals and other materials were destroyed to prevent their use in drug production.
The Navy said the lab complex was operated by a network linked to Los Chapitos, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. The operation reportedly prevented the production of 27,930 kilograms of methamphetamine.
