Demonstrators in Mexico City urged the government to investigate a mass grave site in Jalisco.
Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the Mexican Presidential Palace in Mexico City, demanding answers from the government following the discovery of a mass grave at a ranch in the western state of Jalisco, believed to be linked to violent drug gangs.
Families of the disappeared, NGOs, and protesters laid out shoes on the ground, symbolizing the nearly 400 pairs found at the ranch in Teuchitlán.
The site, which also contained cremation ovens, was discovered by a civilian activist group.
Mexico’s Attorney General, Alejandro Gertz Manero, has pledged a full investigation.
