With its range, the newly revealed missile is capable of reaching Israel, which Iran targeted twice last year amid the broader regional impact of the Gaza conflict.
"The development of defense capabilities and space technologies... aims to ensure that no country dares to attack Iranian territory or even thinks about it," Pezeshkian stated in a televised speech, as quoted by media. “With the help of our young people and capable specialists, Iran proudly manufactures and even exports military products,” he added.
Since the return of US President Donald Trump — who pursued a “maximum pressure” approach to Iran in his first term — Tehran has made multiple shows of force, including large-scale military exercises and the presentation of underground military bases.
Iranian President’s Press Office highlighted the list of defence and space innovations demonstrated at the exhibition on Sunday:
- Shahid Arman, a long-range air defense system designed as a fully tactical and self-propelled system,
- L 360, a solid-fuel ballistic missile system with ability of simultaneous launch of six missiles as a mobile tactical system,
- Shahid Qassem, a solid-fuel ballistic missile system, with precision strike capability and resistance to electronic warfare,
- Shahid Abou Mahdi, a cruise missile system capable of being launched from both ground and naval launchers,
- Khorramshahr 4, a liquid-fuel ballistic missile system for different missions, possessing the heaviest warhead among Iran's ballistic missiles,
- Jihad, a liquid-fuel ballistic missile system with precision strike capability.
- Emad, liquid-fuel and long-range, surface-to-surface ballistic missile.
- Shahid Majid, a short-range system designed to counter drones, helicopters, and other low-altitude targets.
- Dezful, a short-range system designed for vertical launch against cruise missiles, drones, and low-altitude flying targets, capable of launching two missiles simultaneously against two different targets.
- Zoubin, a short-range system capable of launching eight missiles in a vertical launch configuration,
- 15 Khordad, a long-range system with a detection and engagement altitude of 27 kilometers.
Having been under an arms embargo during a devastating war with Iraq between 1980 and 1988, Iran now has a substantial arsenal of domestically developed weapons, including missiles, air defence systems and drones.
