1. U.S. and Canada fail to reach tariff deal as trade war deepens

The United States and Canada failed to reach a trade agreement, prompting Washington to impose 50% tariffs on around $20 billion of Canadian goods. Canada suspended negotiations and vowed to respond with matching tariffs, escalating tensions between the two allies.

2. Trump says Iran not ready to make the 'right deal'

U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran was not ready to make what he called the "right deal" and that Washington was monitoring developments in the conflict. The U.S. plans to announce new sanctions against Iran and has threatened economic consequences for countries supporting Tehran. Tensions remain high around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy supplies.

3. Australian Capital Territory to join gun buyback after Bondi Beach attack

The Australian Capital Territory, which includes Canberra, will join a national gun buyback scheme following the deadly shooting at a Jewish festival in Sydney that killed 15 people. 4. Zelenskyy says Russian 'double-tap' strike kills 16

At least 16 people were killed and more than 130 wounded after Russian drones struck a shopping centre in Ukraine’s Kryvyi Rih, officials said. 5. One killed, three injured in sword attack at Swedish school

An 18-year-old man armed with a sword attacked students at Brinell High School in Fagersta, central Sweden, killing one person and injuring three others. Police shot and detained the suspect, who Swedish media reported was a former student at the school. Authorities are investigating the motive.
