Serbian PM Milos Vucevic resigns after months of protests over a deadly canopy collapse, as public outrage grows over alleged government negligence and corruption.

Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic announced his resignation on Tuesday after months of large-scale protests following the fatal collapse of a concrete canopy in November.

"It is my unconditional decision to resign," Vucevic declared during a press conference. His resignation came just one day after demonstrators, joined by farmers, staged a daylong protest and blocked a major intersection in Belgrade.

The protests initially erupted after a railway station canopy in Novi Sad collapsed on November 1, resulting in 15 fatalities.

Protesters have accused the government of corruption and negligence, holding it responsible for the tragedy. Over time, their demands have expanded to include calls for greater transparency and accountability within the administration.
