U.S. President Donald Trump said his separate meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Tuesday were positive. The talks focused on Ukraine’s defence needs, peace efforts with Russia and ongoing Middle East tensions.
Trump said his meeting with Netanyahu covered “many important subjects” but did not provide specific details.
“Had a very good meeting! Obviously, many important subjects were discussed,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The talks came amid ongoing tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran, with Washington and Jerusalem previously carrying out strikes against Iranian targets and Tehran responding with attacks on U.S.-linked positions in the region.
Netanyahu described the meeting as “excellent”.
Trump also held talks with Zelenskyy, with the two leaders discussing Ukraine’s defence requirements and efforts to revive peace talks with Russia.
“Many things were discussed. The meeting went very well,” Trump said.
Zelenskyy said a key focus was strengthening Ukraine’s air defence capabilities, including plans for Kyiv to produce Patriot missile interceptors under licence.
The Ukrainian leader also discussed possible steps towards ending Russia’s full-scale invasion, which began in 2022.
The meetings highlight Washington’s ongoing engagement with two key partners as conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East continue.
