U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his desire to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon to work toward ending the nearly three-year-old conflict in Ukraine, citing the devastating loss of life.
"I would really like to meet with President Putin soon to bring an end to this war," Trump said in a video address to the World Economic Forum in Davos , following his return to the White House.
“This is not about the economy or anything else; it's about the millions of lives being lost. It's a tragedy, and we must put an end to it," he added.
Trump also mentioned that U.S. efforts to secure a peace settlement were underway, though he did not provide further specifics. Additionally, he expressed optimism about the strong relationship between the U.S. and China and hoped that China could play a role in helping to end the conflict in Ukraine.
