Russian missile and drone attacks killed at least eight people and wounded dozens across Ukraine on Saturday (11 July). President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for faster implementation of international agreements on military assistance.

The attacks struck several regions, including Sumy, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Kyiv, as Ukraine continues to face shortages of air defence munitions amid intensified Russian bombardments.

Five people were killed and around 30 injured after two Russian glide bombs hit a crowded area in the northeastern city of Sumy.

Officials said one bomb struck near a bus stop, tearing through a passenger bus and damaging nearby apartment buildings.

Strikes hit multiple regions

Elsewhere, two people were killed in a missile strike on the southern port city of Odesa, while another person died in Ukraine's Sumy region after stepping on an explosive device in a border district.

Russian glide bombs also injured 10 people in Zaporizhzhia, while a drone strike on a civilian enterprise in Kharkiv wounded seven more.

Ukraine's capital Kyiv also came under a large-scale overnight assault involving ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. Authorities said 12 people were injured.

According to Ukraine's Air Force, Russia launched six ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles and 121 drones overnight. Ukrainian air defences intercepted 111 drones and two cruise missiles but were unable to stop the ballistic missiles.

Kyiv pushes for support

In his nightly address, Zelenskyy said Ukraine needed a higher level of coordination with international partners to ensure agreed military assistance reaches the country more quickly.

"We need a new level of cooperation with our partners to ensure that agreements on arms supplies are fulfilled," he said.

The president specifically referred to an agreement reached with U.S. President Donald Trump this week allowing Ukraine to produce Patriot interceptor missiles under licence.

Kyiv has repeatedly warned that dwindling stocks of Patriot missiles have weakened its ability to defend against Russian ballistic missile attacks.

Ukraine targets Russian logistics

As Russia intensified its aerial campaign, Ukraine continued strikes against Russian military logistics in occupied southern territories.

Ukraine's drone forces said they struck 21 fuel tanker vessels in the Sea of Azov overnight, along with seven additional cargo and support ships, as part of efforts to disrupt Russian supply lines.

Russian-installed authorities in occupied Donetsk said one person was killed when a drone struck a vehicle, while another nine people were injured in a separate drone attack on a bus near the Sea of Azov.

The latest wave of attacks comes as diplomatic efforts to end the war remain stalled, with both sides continuing long-range strikes while seeking to gain leverage on the battlefield.
