A British Iranian man has been charged in connection with an arson attack on a memorial wall in north London, an area with a large Jewish population, police have said.
Ali Reza Fallahi, 45, is accused of carrying out the attack in April in Golders Green, where the wall displayed images of protesters reportedly killed by the Iranian state earlier this year. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Counter-terrorism officials said the charge forms part of a wider investigation into a series of incidents targeting both the Jewish community and the Iranian diaspora in London.
“This charge marks another step forward in one of the investigations into the series of arson attacks,” said Helen Flanagan, head of counter-terrorism policing in London.
Police confirmed that a 38-year-old woman arrested in connection with the case has since been released with no further action.
The incident is part of a broader pattern of attacks, including multiple arson incidents targeting Jewish sites in the Golders Green area. Authorities have also been investigating whether there may be links to Iran.
Concerns have grown following a number of violent incidents, including the stabbing of two Jewish men, which prompted the government to raise the UK's national terrorism threat level from "substantial" to "severe".
