Firefighters report progress against Los Angeles County's wildfires, but strong winds threaten to worsen conditions. Over 34,000 acres have burned, with 10 fatalities and nearly 10,000 structures destroyed, as efforts focus on controlling the region’s most devastating blazes.

Firefighters in Los Angeles County have made progress in containing the wildfires that have ravaged hillsides, neighbourhoods, and homes. However, strong winds expected on Friday threaten to worsen conditions.

The fires, which have devastated areas like the Hollywood Hills and Pacific Palisades, have killed at least 10 people and destroyed nearly 10,000 structures. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna warned the death toll could rise, describing the devastation as resembling "an atomic bomb."

Among the five fires still burning, the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire have been the most destructive in the county's history, consuming over 34.
