Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasised on Thursday that the Arctic remains a zone of Russia's strategic national interests, as Moscow continues to monitor international developments in the region.

He suggested that respecting the opinions of populations in contested regions should be applied universally, drawing attention to Russia's stance on its newly integrated territories.
